Robert (Bob) Hagerty - Chief Executive Officer
Bob has a long history of business transformation and product line expansion, and has played a key role in creating several technology industry giants. Prior to iControl, Bob was the Chief Executive Officer for Polycom where he grew the business from a speakerphone company to a market-maker in the communications industry with a broad range of collaboration tools, including telepresence, VoIP, video, and voice solutions. He increased revenue from $37 million to $1.1 billion to build the largest collaborative communications company in the industry during his tenure.
In his early years, Bob was at Digital Equipment Corporation, and from there joined Signal Corporation as a key executive in its broadcast equipment division. He played a significant role in the turnaround of the company, the expansion of tape recorders to broadcast solutions, and in driving the industry transition from analog to digital. After that, Bob joined Conner Peripherals as an early executive and helped grow the computer disk drive business from $180 million in 1987 to $2.2 billion in annual revenue in 1991. Bob later joined Logitech, Inc., as a top executive, where he helped to transform the company as the computer market became mainstream.
Bob holds a Bachelor of Science degree in operations research and industrial engineering from the University of Massachusetts, and a Masters degree in management from St. Mary's College of California. In addition to his Polycom board membership, Bob served on the board of directors for Palm, Inc. and Modulus, Inc. He currently serves on the boards of Smart Technologies, Inc., Plantronics, Inc. and eyeIO, LLC.
William (Bill) Grotzinger - Chief Financial Officer
Bill Grotzinger is a veteran Silicon Valley CFO with broad-based experience in both Fortune 500 and venture-backed startup technology companies. Prior to joining iControl, Bill served as CFO of ParaScale, a cloud storage system software developer; LongBoard, a converged mobile and broadband services provider; Blaze Software (Neuron Data), an eBusiness workflow engine software developer; and Kaleida Labs, a pioneering multimedia platform developer backed by IBM and Apple.
Earlier, Bill spent thirteen years with Apple in finance and corporate development roles. He joined Apple as a member of the company's IPO team and was rapidly promoted through a series of division controllership and technical accounting positions. Bill was a member of Apple Venture Capital, Apple's top-quartile captive fund, and CFO and board member of Financetech, Apple's strategic investment subsidiary. His corporate development tenure included work on dozens of venture equity and debt financings, alliances, licensing deals, joint ventures, spinouts, and acquisitions.
Bill began his career as a CPA in the Silicon Valley audit practice of Ernst & Young. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from Santa Clara University and an MBA from UC-Berkeley's Haas School of Business.
Paul Dawes - Executive Vice President, General Manager (Silicon Valley Business Unit)
Paul has spent over 20 years in Silicon Valley creating, managing, and selling high-tech products and services. He has led sales teams in the broadband, enterprise and entertainment markets, and driven product management for both embedded systems and enterprise. Most recently, Paul was a partner at Lockwood Capital, a technology investment team where he held the role of SVP, Worldwide Sales & Marketing for Liberate Technologies and helped drive the sale of Liberate to Comcast and Cox. Paul also led the sales team that closed deals with the largest US cable operators, enabling Liberate's 1999 IPO.
Prior to Liberate, Paul was VP, Sales & Marketing for VerdiSoft, a mobile software provider that has become the foundation of Yahoo's Connected Life division (2005 acquisition). Earlier, Paul held product and business development roles at Gain Technologies, Tom Siebel's multimedia software company (1997 Sybase purchase). Paul started his career in software engineering, product marketing and sales at Integrated Systems, Inc., an embedded systems company (1990 IPO).
Paul holds a BSME degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MSME from Stanford University.
James (Jim) Johnson - Executive Vice President, General Manager (Austin Business Unit)
Jim co-founded uControl which merged with iControl in 2010. Most recently, he was the Vice President and General Manager of the Service Provider Business Unit of TippingPoint, which was acquired by 3Com in February 2005.
Prior to TippingPoint, Jim was Vice President of Sales at BroadJump, which was acquired by Motive Communications in February 2003. Prior to BroadJump, he served as National Sales Manager for Cisco Systems' ADSL portfolio. Before Cisco's acquisition of NetSpeed, he served as the Director of North American Telco Sales for NetSpeed. Prior to NetSpeed, Jim held both domestic and international assignments with Alcatel Telecom in sales, product planning, product management and research and development.
Jim also serves on the Board of Directors for Boundless Network and holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University.
